Munnar is one of the finest tourist destinations in Kerala. It is located in the district Idukki in the
Western Ghats of the mountain range. According to the geography, it is also situated above the main
sea level at around 1600 meters. Munnar is mainly named for tea plantations and the cool climate
all around. An alternative name for Munnar is ‘The Kashmir of South India’ for its soothing climate and
atmosphere.

Climate

The winter season in Munnar is quite damp and cloudy; the summers are always partly overcast and
cozy throughout. Over the year, the temperature consistently differs from 53°F to 79°F and
occasionally lesser the 50°F or superior to 84°F.
The summer season mostly extends for 2 months a year from the month of March to May with an
inflated temperature above 77°F. April is the boiling month in Munnar with a median rise of 79°F
and below 61°F.
The humid season mainly persists for 4 months from October to January with a soaring temperature
below 70°F. The freezing month of the year is January with the Fahrenheit of 54 and 70. Coming to
the rainfall, it rains annually. The highest rate of rainfall occurs in the month of June with
10 inches and the lesser rainfall rate in January with a rate of 0.6 inches.
